Earlier this month when I was jammin Anamanaguchi’s remix of Das Racist’s Rainbow In The Dark I got this picture in my head: scraggly high school kid, discman in backpack, window-shopping from store to store, scoping out spots outside the entrances to smoke Newports without security finding him, lifting band patches from Spencer Gifts; trying to be a badass at the least cool of all the cool hangouts; THE MALL.

The rest of the tracks fit into what I thought would accompany to a day in his life. (Imagine a soundtrack to a montage of scenes.)

So queue up Winamp to export a playlist, put it on your MP3 storage device, and re-wrap those over-the-ear headphones with a fresh roll of electrical tape. It’s time to saunter.
